Ajna (Third Eye) Chakra

The Ajna Chakra, or Third Eye Chakra, is the sixth energy center in the human body. Located between the eyebrows, it is regarded as the seat of intuition, higher perception, and wisdom. A balanced Ajna Chakra enhances insight, mental clarity, and spiritual awakening, serving as the gateway to higher consciousness.

The Ajna Chakra is deeply rooted in ancient yogic texts and is described as the center of perception and spiritual enlightenment.

The Bijakshar, or seed mantra, of the Ajna Chakra is OM. Chanting this mantra aligns the mind with the higher self, enhancing clarity and intuition.

  • Frequency: The Ajna Chakra resonates at 852 Hz, known for awakening intuition and inner vision.
  • Element: Light, representing clarity, perception, and higher awareness.

As cited in Shiva Samhita, (Chapter 4, Verse 30) “ज्योतिराज्ञां धारयति।” (Jyotir Ajñāṁ Dhārayati). Means, “Light sustains the Third Eye Chakra.”

The governing deity of the Ajna Chakra is Lord Shiva in His Ardhanarishvara Form, symbolizing the union of masculine and feminine energies, wisdom, and higher consciousness.

The Ajna Chakra is represented by a two-petaled lotus, symbolizing duality and integration of knowledge and intuition. The chakra is associated with the color indigo, signifying wisdom and spiritual awakening.

  • Choose a Quiet Space: Sit in a peaceful and undisturbed environment.
  • Posture: Sit cross-legged (Sukhasana/Padmasana/Siddhasana) or in a chair with your feet flat on the ground with your back straight.
  • Focus on the Chakra: Visualize an indigo two petalled lotus blooming between your eyebrows.
  • Chant OM: Inhale deeply and chant the mantra “OM” during exhalation.
  • Light Visualization: Imagine a beam of light illuminating your mind, enhancing perception.

Daily Duration: Practice for 20-40 (there is no limit) minutes daily for deep spiritual insight.

  • Physical Benefits: Enhances brain function and memory. Regulates sleep cycles and pineal gland function.
  • Emotional Benefits: Strengthens intuition and decision-making abilities. Reduces mental stress and overthinking.
  • Spiritual Benefits: Expands consciousness and spiritual awareness. Deepens meditation and enhances inner vision.

To harmonize the Ajna Chakra:

  • Yoga Poses: Practice poses like Child’s Pose (Balasana), Forward Bend (Uttanasana), and Lotus Pose (Padmasana) to activate the Third Eye Chakra.
  • Diet: Incorporate dark purple foods such as blackberries, grapes, eggplant, and lavender tea to nourish the Third Eye.
  • Affirmations: Repeat affirmations like “I trust my intuition,” “I see with clarity and wisdom,” and “I am connected to divine insight.”
  • Integration: Balance it with the Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) for clear communication and the Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) for spiritual transcendence.

The Ajna Chakra is the center of divine wisdom, higher perception, and inner vision. By activating and balancing this chakra, one transcends illusions and gains true understanding of the self and the universe. A balanced Third Eye Chakra paves the way for enlightenment and Nirvana.
